• Read the CMS E-News – The CMS E-NEWS is distributed via email on the 3rd Monday of the month from September through May.  It serves as a reminder for the upcoming Wednesday meeting and lets members know about other upcoming events and Fungi in the news.  You can sign-up to receive the CMS E-News in your email inbox or read the current or back issues on our CMS E-News Page.
• Like the CMS Facebook page –  All new postings on the CMS website are also posted on our Facebook page. We also post “Fungi in the news” and non-CMS fungi related events. CMS Facebook Page.
• Join the CMS Forums on Facebook – Join the CMS Forums page on Facebook to post your mushroom finds, and communicate with other CMS members and mycophiles. CMS Forums Group on Facebook.
• Stay up-to-date on CMS Board Activities – You will find both the monthly meeting minutes and a spreadsheet of current Board action items on our CMS Board Activities Page.

Participate

• Attend CMS Meetings – CMS meetings are free and open to the public. We currently meet the 3rd Wednesday of the month from September through May. Learn more here.
• Attend the Annual Mount Pisgah Arboretum Mushroom Festival – Always the last Sunday in October! CMS provides the Mushroom Display for the festival which is known for being the largest on the west coast.  This is a family friendly festival with great opportunities for learning about mushrooms, plus many more fun activities. • Register for Community Classes – CMS teaches a Fall Wild Mushroom Identification Class and a Spring Mushroom Cultivation Class through the City of Eugene, Amazon Community Center. These classes are open to the public and do not require CMS Membership.  Learn more here.
• Register for a Community Foray – CMS offers two forays in the fall for the community.  The Family Foray is free, and the adult foray includes transportation (fee of $32 to the city). CMS Membership is not required to participate in these forays.  Learn more here.
• Register for CMS Members Only Forays – CMS forays are a great way to learn to identify mushrooms. We have forays specifically for beginners, forays to collect for the Mount Pisgah Arboretum Mushroom Festival, forays to identify and find specific edible mushrooms like the Candy Cap mushroom, and forays to collect for special occasions like Thanksgiving. • Get involved with CMS Interest Groups – CMS Interest Groups were launched in September of 2017. They provide the ability for CMS Members to gather in smaller groups to talk about and plan activities involving a specific fungi related topic such as photographing mushrooms, culinary, or fungi crafts. • Operation Mycelium – Invite Friends – Connect with friends and family about your fun experiences on CMS outings.  You might be amazed how many “closet mycophiles” there are among your friends and family. CMS membership makes an inexpensive and thoughtful gift, as well.

Contribute

• Facebook – We love receiving posts on our Facebook page.  Pictures of mushrooms you have found, pictures of you having fun while collecting, or if you just notice a good Fungi related news article online, please share them all.
• Newsletter – You do not need to be a professional journalist or mycologist to write an article for CMS Enews.    We especially would like to hear about your mushroom collecting adventures. Tell us about a fun time you had in the woods and please include some pictures.  Send your submissions to newsletter@cascademyco.org.
• Website – Have a suggestion for website content? Please let us know. Send an email to webmaster@cascademyco.org.
• Collect mushrooms – Collecting mushrooms for the annual Mount Pisgah Arboretum Mushroom Festival Display is both fun and easy. You can either join in on one of the CMS collection forays, or you can collect on your own – here is how.
