COVID-19 UPDATE FOR FALL 2020

Yes, despite COVID-19, we will have a 2020-2021 mushrooming season – socially distant in a responsible manner. CMS monthly meetings will be streamed online to the CMS YouTube Channel until further notice. We will continue to announce all meetings on the CMS Website, on the CMS Facebook page, in the CMS Enews, and in the Eugene Weekly Calendar section. We will be having in person forays for CMS Members, more info on our Member Foray page. We encourage everyone to get outdoors and Recreate Responsibly!

The Mission of the Cascade Mycological Society

  • to study fungi;
  • to educate members and the public about fungi identification and ecology;
  • to promote conservation of fungi;
  • to promote health and safety in the gathering and consumption of edible fungi,
  • and to have fun!

The Cascade Mycological Society (CMS) was created by a collective effort of people located in the Eugene/Springfield area of Oregon, who share a common interest in and appreciation for the Kingdom of Fungi. In order to focus our fungal fascination, we have formed an educational non-profit [501(c) 3] organization dedicated to the study and enjoyment of fungi and we would like you to join us.

Mushroom Festival

The Mount Pisgah Arboretum (MPA) Mushroom Festival is the largest educational event of the year for the Cascade Mycological Society.  We have been involved since its inception in 1981 and are integral to its success.

Community Events

CMS partners with the City of Eugene to offer seasonal educational forays and classes at Amazon Community Center. You will also encounter CMS members giving talks at various venues during the fall.

We know you are here to learn about mushrooms. So, here is some information to get you started.
